How To : BANISH BLACK AND EMBRACE COLOUR THIS WINTER
If you’re anything like me you’re currently (not so gracefully) gripping onto the remaining few Sunny days and childishly willing the Summer to stay whilst disbelieving, yet again, that Autumn is indeed here, and the inevitable Winter is not too far away. *sighs*
In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m a Summer lover all the way, and I always find myself, at this time of year, frightfully struggling to extend my Summer frocks well into the chillier temps.
Stylist Tip :
Break out the heavy winter coats now and rock them over your floaty frocks with boots for the perfect transition look.
But if you’re ready to ditch the skimpier pieces embrace a more rugged-up vibe, then let’s look at how you can go about that without banishing yourself to an all-black few months.
Now according to global colour experts, Pantone, below are the Shades de Jour: the ones you want to be injecting into your ‘drobe in coming months, in order to look oh-so-chic.
So to make this simple for you, I’m going to break this down for both cool and warm skin tones, as dressing for your tone is really the key to walking out the door and feeling ah-mazing about yourself.
(Cause, when you look good you feel good, right!) PS. if you don’t know if you’re a cool or a warm skin tone, then check this out first then read on:
Now if this is all too ‘sunshine lollipops’ for you and you feel much safer in your black and neutrals, let me give you a few colorful tips on injecting some eh, colour, into your look without going OTT.
Jewels: Accessories are your key to adding personality and statement. I’m all for buying costume jewelry in the new season shades to update your look without spending a lot of money. Imagine a Scuba Blue necklace over a grey sweater.
Shoes: I always think shoes should be fun, especially in Winter! Think Tangerine loafers with an all black look! Heaven.
Belts ‘n Bags: A pop of colour on your waist or on you arm, is an easy and effortless way to add a little fun to a traditionally neutral look. Hello Strawberry Ice sling bag with an all white winter vibe.
Nails: And if you still can’t commit to any of the above, please, for me, at least go a little frou frou with your nails. Toasted Almond or Marsala would be a divine take on a new neutral.
