What are you five must have fashion accessories?
My five must have accessories range so much. My handbag that I go
everywhere without is a small over the body red bag from Gucci, it was a present from the fashion house and absolutely love it. I am a real fan of over the body bags. They are so versatile and it means both my hands are free which is key for riffling through rails for work. I cant carry much in it but that doesn’t matter, it just means I have downsized now
to a compact bag, everything is in our phones these days, anyway!
The shoes I cannot live without for Summer
are by David Kafri for Mulo Shoes. They are super cool slides and they are designed by London based tattoo artist David Kafri. The Koi’s are my favorite and
they are just so perfect its untrue, comfort and unique in design. This leads me on to my next accessory, a tattoo on my wrist. Its my lucky star
and of course, it comes everywhere with me. Lastly, I am always travelling so I try to look the part even through passport control. I have the coolest
passport holder from Smythason, its bright pink and it means I can always find it when in the depths of my travel bag.
The most versatile accessory you could own..
I think it has to be the Never Full Tote bag by Louis Vuitton. I have seen women using this as there gym bag, travelling with it across continents, looking super chic at the weekend and career women using it to take into board rooms. Its amazing how versatile it is. It is always a winner, never dates and is timeless.
Should Accessories match my outfit?
I wouldn’t necessarily say they have too. I think now the trend is so about miss matching and really anything goes – its all about being bold and confident and making an outfit look effortless. What I would say is to steer away from matching shoes and bags, those days are most definitely over. I think its important to get the vibe right and to stick to what you feel comfortable with. Make accessories work for you, there is such a huge choice out there its about getting the right look to suit your style. Although, saying that I think with accessories you can definitely go out of your comfort zone. For example if the idea of the boho look terrifies you but you want to try it, opt for a silk scarf in a paisley print or a tapestry bag.. You can get the look by just a hint and being subtle!
If you could save three accessories, what would they be and why? My David Kafri x Mulo slides: the Koi, the Skulls and the Tribal designs. I genuinely couldn’t live without them.
Who do you think the best celebrity at accessorizing?
I think Kate Moss always gets it right, her style is so individual and its always normally made super cool by her accessories. Kate’s style is the most iconic of our generation. Also, I love the way Poppy Delavigne accessories. She has the coolest accessories. My favorite look of hers is either in converse trainers or looking super glam with a Eddie Parker clutch bag.
Is it possible to over accessorise and if so how do you avoid over accessorising?
Its a bit like that denim on denim thing, a little goes a long way! I always say dressing is all about proportion and balance so if you have got a full on outfit go for simple accessories. I think jewellery always looks better if it is worn personally rather than as a trend, it should almost be like your underwear – not neisarily for show but vital for your over all look. A little tip when I am styling for photo shoots I tend to steer clear of lots of jewellery, I think it dates a picture very quickly. So if you don’t want to look back and think OMG what was I wearing, steer clear of too much bling!
