We were lucky enough to chat with the gorgeous Monika Radulovic about her background, her career and it's challenages and Monika even shares her advice for those wanting to get into modelling.
Continue reading below to find out what Monika has to say...
1. Tell us a bit about you and your background…
Well the most exciting thing about me is that I've been lucky enough to have been crowned Miss Universe Australia! However, I've also got a background in Psychology (I have my honours degree in this and this was a massive achievement for me)
I was also born in Bosnia however my family fled the country due to the civil war, so I’m extremely lucky and proud to be Australian.
2. What is a typical day in the life of Monika?
Every day is completely different! I'm either doing a photoshoot, attending an event or appearance, or at home studying and preparing for the Miss Universe pageant! But no matter what I'm doing I always start my day with a glass of lemon, turmeric, ginger and cayenne pepper in warm water which really kick starts my system and gives me an energy boost. I also try to ensure I'm doing something active every day as it really puts me in a great mood.
3. What is the best part of what you do?
Being able to talk to (and hopefully inspire) the Aussie public, particularly teenage girls. Being Miss Universe Australia gives me an amazing platform to use my voice for good, so I'm really grateful for that!
4. Your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
Play with my kitten Paris :) I'm a crazy cat lady and proud!
5. Something you are currently obsessed with…
The new paw paw ointment pots by Face of Australia Cosmetics - love!
6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I really have no idea! This year I'm going to work as hard as I possibly can to ensure I'm the best ambassador for Australia, and hopefully some great things will come from that. I'm open to any opportunities that come my way, and I will always continue to try and help people in any way I can.
7. What has been the most challenging aspect of your career?
Being away from my loved ones for extended periods of time. But thankfully Skype makes that a little bit easier :)
8. If you could give any advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Be yourself! Embrace your individuality! Don't try and fit in with the rest, but really treasure what makes you unique.
9. Your advice to someone wanting to get into modelling…
Firstly, know that it's not as easy or glamourous as it looks! It's actually a really challenging, physically demanding job that requires lots of energy! If you still want to get into modelling, approaching some agencies is a great first step and ask lots of questions to make sure it is the right fit for you!
10. Your advice for someone trying to be more confident…
I think the crucial thing is to embrace your uniqueness and love yourself and everything that makes you different- that's what makes you YOU! When you love yourself, the confidence will naturally come.
