The Russell Hobbs 3 in 1 stick mixer - a great Christmas gift.
This mixer is the ideal size for any kitchen. I have had this machine for a few months and have deliberately taken my time in posting this blog as I was keen to put every gadget to the test. Having done so I am glad to say that I love this machine.
As I love to cook, this 3 in 1 mixer has been a great aid and time saver. The chopper serves well for chopping onions especially when in large quantities - less the tears.
Preparing marinades to purees.
Prepare your garlic or ginger puree in the chopper by dropping your peeled garlic pods or ginger into the 750ml chopper, and a little oil and seas salt and blend to a puree. Remove in an air tight dry container or jar and store in the fridge. You may also wish to combine the garlic and ginger and blend them together.
The garlic, ginger can be used to marinade meats, pork, chicken, fish, stir fry or in any way you choose. The chopper also makes short work of apple, horse radish, raw mango etc in the preparation of sauces or chutney's.
The jug/ beaker is also great for blending soups, whisking egg whites into perfect peaks when using the blending shaft or the whisk.
I have used the blending shaft and the beaker in the following recipe
Easy Pumpkin Soup 🎃
1 small Pumpkin (Jap/Butternut) Peeled and chopped into cubes
1 med size onion (chopped)
2 pods of peeled garlic (chopped)
2 tables spoons of dried fried smoked bacon or 6 rashes crisply fried lean bacon
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
2 cup of stock (veg or chicken)
Sour cream for serving
Gourmet red wine vinegar
Skin and chop the pumpkin into 1/2 " / 1" cubes
Place in sauce pan with water an inch above the pumpkin.
Place the saucepan on a stove and cook pumpkin until it is easily pierced with fork but still firm.
Remove from stove and let cool
Sauté 1 medium sized chopped onion and two pod of chopped garlic in a little olive oil.
Add this to the chopped pumpkin
Add two table spoons of finely chopped smoked bacon to the pumpkin along with a tea spoon of smoked paprika.
Using the hand held blending whisk shaft blend all the ingredients together adding the veg or chicken stock depending on the consistency you desire.
Add a table spoon of red wine gourmet vinegar and blend.
Add salt and pepper to taste and return to heat.
Before serving, add a dollop of sour cream to the centre of the soup and lightly sprinkle with finly chopped fresh parsley.
For a pumpkin and sweet potato soup - just add two medium sized sweet potatoes peeled and chopped to the above recipe and adjust other ingredients to taste.
I find this machine the perfect size for any kitchen, it is very versatile and very easy to clean and handle. It is well crafted and made of durable material and looks good on a work top.
