Starting to get a bit bored with your workout routine?
First of all, recognise the achievements you have made so far. If you have managed to integrate fitness with your lifestyle, this is a brilliant start, this is something lots of people struggle with. You have made it through the toughest part, you have taken that motivation and turned it into ACTION!!
If you haven't, that’s ok too - everyone must start somewhere and there is nothing stopping you from making the change towards a healthier lifestyle.
Fitness can be fun, but it should also challenge you to become a better, happier and healthier version of yourself. Depending on what your goal is the level of challenge you require will vary. The key to being able to withstand the challenges that your workout regime may throw at you, is to try and incorporate as much enjoyment as possible.
Feel the burn AND enjoy it? - HOW?!
I am not a fitness professional, but personally, I like to feel a bit of a burn when working out, it lets me know that I am actually working a group of muscles. This is the type of challenge that I like, not pain though…it is so important to listen to your body to avoid injuries and there is a difference between challenging yourself and hurting yourself. I'd be lying if I said that the "burn" is enjoyable because at the time, it's not, but the enjoyment comes from challenging yourself and feeling happy that you accomplished something or reached a new goal. This is where having the right sort of encouragement is so important and why I enjoy group training.
Since joining with F45 The Ponds, I have been able to experience challenge and enjoyment in all my workouts. With the support and encouragement of the trainers, Susie and Emanuel and your fellow training buddies, you certainly feel motivated and keen to come back for another session.
Another important factor in beating the workout boredom is to include variation - change things up every once in a while. At F45 each workout is different, so you never do the same one twice, this keeps the workout enjoyable and keeps me on my toes!
Music also keeps the fun in working out (it is also a good distraction!!), good tunes and heart-pumping workouts are the perfect combo and personally it helps me train at higher intensity. F45 workouts are accompanied by energetic mixes so that's another tick in the box!
I guess you need to find what works for you, what makes your workout fun, what will keep you coming back - consistency is key to achieving results. So why not try a few things out?
